Price Menu: Unshackle your creativity and let The Marginatrix whip your words into shape!

I want to make this as simple as possible. Unfortunately, I can get a little wordy. A lot of editing websites out there offer a variety of prices, depending upon the speed of turnaround. Clearly, they have teams of people working and available 24/7. That doesn’t work for me; I’m doing this by myself.

The great thing about hiring me is that you don’t have to worry about the quality of work. I take pride in my near-perfection when it comes to proofing and my editing skills are outstanding. My mission is to make your writing more clear without changing your voice, because sometimes it’s hard to find the right words. You are the writer and I’m here to help you reach more people with your writing, or make a better impression if that’s your goal.

Save Time:

My rates start at 2 cents per word for proofreading and editing and I can get your work back to you as quickly as you need it, depending upon the length of your document. I’m not going to charge you more to rush because I’ll be doing it as quickly as I can anyway. Naturally, the more errors I find, the longer it will take to make revisions. Another option is to pay for my services on an hourly basis (I charge $50 per hour). The choice is yours, and you can even wait until I finish to make your decision!

Save Money:

If I read the first 500 words and find no more than 50 errors, I will do your entire document for just 2 cents per word, assuming the rest of your document is proportionally error-free. This is for the person who doesn’t have any grammar issues but might have typos. However, the more help you need, the more time it takes and I will need to charge accordingly – up to 5 cents per word. Don’t worry. I’ll do a sample read and let you know what to expect. At that point, you might decide to proofread it again before submitting it to me, to save yourself some money. Lower on the page, I’ll explain some more ways for you to save money.

Save Face:

It can be frustrating when you know what you want to say, but you can’t find the words to say it in a way that others will understand. Sometimes you have the words, and they sound just fine when you say them out loud, but the transition to writing complicates the message. Whether you need help with the words, the punctuation, or the grammar, I will make the edits to clarify and successfully convey your point to others.

Writing Assistance:

Writing is a skill that can be improved, but much of it is innate. Many people are not aware that the more you read, the better you write. The more you are exposed to a varied vocabulary and different styles of writing, the more varied your writing will be. My first suggestion to anyone who wants to improve the quality of his or her writing is to read more. Over time, your ability to communicate intelligently will increase exponentially.

Meanwhile, sometimes you just need a helping hand to find the words to express yourself now. Sometimes you need to bring some order to your thoughts. I can help you with all aspects of your writing, from outlining your ideas to formulating sentences that are grammatically correct and compelling to read. As an award winning writer, in both expository composition and poetry, I am uniquely qualified to assist in the development of your ideas into cogent and compelling pieces of art. Ultimately, writing is another form of art and the perfect opportunity to express yourself. Because this service cannot be tracked in terms of word count, I charge $50 per hour.

Forms of Payment:

Currently, I can accept payment through PayPal. This may change over time, but at the moment, this is the only one I know. I require a 50% “good faith” payment prior to beginning work on any job. If it is a very long document, you may give it to me in pieces and thereby stagger your payments. If you are truly unhappy with the finished product, I will work on it again free of charge.

Referrals & Endorsements:

At this point, I am actively seeking referrals and endorsements from happy clients. If you are pleased with my services, I will reward you for telling others. Here’s how it works:

  • Provide me with an endorsement that I can post on this website and I will give you a discount of 20% off your next job. And yes, I will help you to write the testimonial at no charge.
  • Provide me with referrals to paying clients and I will give you credit  towards future services with me. This will be equal to 20% of the first job charged to each new client.

In real numbers, here is what you can expect. If you provide me with an endorsement and your next job is 20,000 words at 2 cents per word, you will get a discount of $80 off of the normal charge of $400. If you provide me with a referral and that client’s job is 20,000 words at 5 cents per word, you will get a credit of $200 to be used towards your next job(s) with me. You can provide as many referrals as you’d like and accrue credits over time. This promotion may change over time, but your credit will always be good.

Details, Details:

I do my best work in Microsoft Word. I use the “Review” tab to make changes and add comments. Once the document is returned to you, it is a simple matter to accept/reject suggested changes and read comments to understand those changes (when explanations are necessary). Sometimes I’ll even use the comment bubble to ask for clarification or to compliment you on something you’ve written. I am a human being and I will try to take your feelings into consideration when making changes, but ultimately it’s up to you to take my suggestions in the spirit of helpfulness. It doesn’t hurt if you have a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously.

And Finally:

One last thing, I live in the Pacific standard time zone, specifically California. If you try to contact me at 6 am Eastern standard time, I can guarantee that I will be asleep for at least the next 3-4 hours. If you need something immediately, you may want to look elsewhere for this particular job. Of course, I hope you’ll come back to me when the timing is right.

One last, last thing (and this time I really mean it), you may remember at the top of the page I mentioned I would try to make this simple. I apologize for the length of this page, but I hope that I’ve managed to avoid any confusion by explaining everything in detail.
